Open Common People License (OCPL)

Version 1, 24 Oct 2009

Copyright © 2009 Rahul Bedarkar (https://rpal143.wordpress.com/ocpl/)
Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies of this license document, but changing it is not allowed.
The OCPL is free, copy-left license for software and other kinds of works.

Many license are designed to give you freedom to share and change the works, but not worth of work.
By contrast, the OCPL License is intended to guarantee your freedom to share and change all versions of a program to make sure it remains free software for all its users, in addition to your worth of work.
I use it for software, you, too, can use it for softwares as well as small programs and any other kind of work.

When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not price, unless term free of cost. Our OCPL Licenses are designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute copies of free software (and charge it), that you receive source code or can get it if you want it, that you can change the software or use pieces of it in new free programs, and that you know you can do these things.

To protect your rights, we need to prevent others from denying you these rights or asking you to surrender the rights. Therefore, you have certain responsibilities if you distribute copies of the software, or if you modify it: responsibilities to respect the freedom of others.

Developers that use the OCPL protect your rights with three steps: (1) assert copyright on the software, and (2) offer you this License giving you legal permission to copy, distribute and (3) offer you modify on charge, and again redistribute.

For the originator/initiators’ ,developers’, authors’ protection, the OCPL clearly explains that there is no warranty for this free software.

Many other issues that taken care of while taking about the free software except charge are same.

The precise terms and conditions for copying, distribution, modification and charging follow.

0. Definitions.
“This License” refers to version 1 of the OCPL.
“Copyright” also means copyright-like laws that apply to other kinds of works, such as device design.
“Originator” refers to developer who have first implemented the theme of program.
“The Program” refers to any copyright able work licensed under this License. Each licensee is addressed as “you”. “Licensees” , “Developers”, “Originators”, “Recipients” may be individuals or organizations.
To “modify” a work means to copy from or adapt all or part of the work in a fashion requiring copyright permission, other than the making of an exact copy. The resulting work is called a “modified version” of the earlier work or a work “based on” the earlier work.
“Base work” refers to first version of the program.
“Earlier version” can be base work or the modified version of the base work.
To “pass” refers to any kind of propagation that enables other parties to make or receive copies. Mere interaction with a user by means of any means ( e.g. electronic means), with no transfer of a copy, is not passing.

1. Source Code.

The “source code” for a work means the preferred form of the work for making modifications to it. “Object code” means any non-source form of a work.
A “Standard” means an interface that either is an official standard defined by a recognized standards body, or, in the case of interfaces specified for a particular programming language, one that is widely used among developers working in that language. (e.g. GNU C coding standard)
The “System libraries” are means of basic work of major products, can be available in public source code.

2. Basic Permissions.
License gives you unlimited permission to run, copy, distribute, charge as long as output is consistent with environment.

Those permissions and freedom which you get from the originator or author of earlier work, should be passed on to next person to whom you are distributing or charging.

3. Conveying Verbatim Copies.
You may pass verbatim copies of the Program’s source code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate copyright notice;keep intact all notices of the absence of any warranty; and give all recipients a copy of this License along with the Program.

You have to charge any price for each copy that you pass, wheather recipients are going to modify for personal /organizational use of it or only using / consuming it. Distribution of the price will be done on contribution basis.(as per section Distribution of price). Price which developers will charge should be affordable to common people.

Developers can provide the service to organization or recipients on the part of work which has been developed/originated/modified by themselves. Providing service will not free of cost.

4. Termination.
However, if you cease all violation of this License, then your license from a particular copyright holder is reinstated (a) provisionally, unless and until the copyright holder explicitly and finally terminates your license, and (b) permanently, if the copyright holder fails to notify you of the violation by some reasonable means prior to 24 days after the cessation.
Moreover, your license from a particular copyright holder is reinstated permanently if the copyright holder notifies you of the violation by some reasonable means, this is the first time you have received notice of violation of this License (for any work) from that copyright holder, and you cure the violation prior to 11 days after your receipt of the notice.
Termination of your rights under this section does not terminate the licenses of parties who have received copies or rights from you under this License. If your rights have been terminated and not permanently reinstated, you do not qualify to receive new licenses for the same material.

Once you license, you can not take it back unless prior notice and permissions to all recipients, originator and developers of basic work.

5. Revised Versions of this License.
We may publish revised and/or new versions of the OPCL License from time to time. Such new versions will be similar in spirit to the present version, but may differ in detail to address new problems or concerns.
All recipients can follow the any version but can not downstream on it.

6. Disclaimer of Warranty.
There is no warranty for the programs.

We will try our best to defend with people who violates or takes away your rights.

8.Distribution of price.
Distribution of price which you got by charging the copies will be distributed up to originators, depending on the how much new things, modifications, and complexity of algorithm, and any other parameter which is defined by originator at the time of applying license to it.
